History

MahWengKwai & Associates was established in Kuala Lumpur by Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai in 1985 after 12 years in the Judicial and Legal Services. Dato’ Mah built a strong reputation for civil and corporate litigation, arbitration and criminal matters. Years of dedication to the profession saw Dato’ Mah become President of the Malaysian Bar (2001-2003) and subsequently President of LAWASIA (2006-2008).

Raymond Mah joined the firm as an associate in 2005 made partner in 2008. Dato’ Mah resigned from the firm in 2010, allowing the growth and development of the firm to continue under the leadership of Raymond Mah, the firm’s present managing partner. Raymond also heads the Dispute Resolution and Corporate departments.

Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai was appointed to the High Court as a Judicial Commissioner in 2010. He was confirmed as a High Court Judge in 2011 and elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2012. Dato’ Mah returned to the firm as a consultant after his retirement from the judiciary in February 2015.

The MWKA team has grown and continues to grow from strength to strength over the years, with its present team of 50 persons, including 22 lawyers.
