GUAN Brenda

Brenda Guan is a compassionate Junior Associate Attorney at Stange Law Firm. Based in our Des Moines, IA office, she represents individuals across Polk County, Iowa, and the surrounding areas.

Brenda studied law at the University of Iowa College of Law in Iowa City, earning her Juris Doctor in May 2024. Before studying law, she attended Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA, where she majored in Political Science with a concentration in Linguistics, graduating with honors. During her undergraduate studies, she also spent her free time as captain of the women’s tennis team and team manager for the women’s basketball team. Brenda is currently licensed to practice law in Iowa.

Before joining Stange Law Firm, specializing in divorce and family law in Des Moines, Iowa, Brenda worked as a labor and estate law advisor in private practice, providing estate planning services and employment law counsel, including garnishment matters. She also participated as an Officer Candidate in the U.S. Marine Corps Law Program, where she was selected for Officer Candidate Courses 243 and 248. Through her time at the Iowa College of Law Clinical Law Program, she gained valuable legal experience working with the Law & Policy in Action Clinic, conducting legal research and assisting with mediation and various other legal tasks. Additionally, she worked as an AmeriCorps member with Iowa Legal Aid, facilitating legal services for underserved Iowans, focusing on elderly clients through the Older Iowans Hotline. Outside her legal career, Brenda spent two years as the head tennis coach for the Iowa City West High School girls' team, leading daily practices, developing student leadership skills, and coordinating parental support.
