Mohamed-Amine Semrouni is a lawyer and member of the Quebec Bar, practicing in refugee law, immigration law, and international human rights law. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Laval University and a minor in Political Science from the University of Montreal (B.A.). He is currently pursuing a Master's degree (LL.M.) in International Law at UQAM, where his research focuses on the decolonization of international law.Since becoming a lawyer, Amine has worked in immigration law, handling and arguing various cases before the Federal Court, the Superior Court, the Administrative Tribunal of Quebec, and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, as well as before international bodies in the context of international appeals. He joined the litigation team at Bertrand Deslauriers after working at a law firm specializing in refugee law.With a strong commitment to human rights, Amine worked in Bamako, Mali, as a volunteer legal advisor with Lawyers Without Borders Canada. During his graduate studies, he also participated in the Human Rights Defense Clinic at UQAM (CIDDHU), where he wrote a report on the rights of migrant children in Tunisia, which was presented to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. In 2022, Amine also participated in the advanced seminar of the René Cassin Foundation at the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg, where he obtained certificates in International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian and Criminal Law.His legal practice is characterized by sincere humanism, as well as an empathetic and meticulous approach to each case, allowing him to establish a strong trust-based relationship with his clients. Amine is fluent in French, English, Arabic, and Spanish.
