D. HOLMAN Kirk

Kirk D. Holman, of Holman Schiavone, LLC, comes from a hardworking New England family with humble beginnings. From a young age, he aspired to become a lawyer to defend the rights of the underserved and advocate for noble causes. He represents clients in Kansas City, Missouri, in cases involving civil rights, constitutional law, discrimination, employment law, and sexual harassment.

While in his first year of law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, Mr. Holman became interested in employment law after a life-changing family event. His father was working in a trench when the ground collapsed due to inadequate support. He underwent numerous surgeries but was never able to work again after the accident. His parents had to rely on his mother’s sole income, and he witnessed his father mourn the loss of a job that represented 35 years of work.

Following this experience, Mr. Holman realized he could help others protect their rights. He began clerking for the U.S. Department of Labor with the aim of learning labor law. He is now licensed to practice law in Missouri, Kansas, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

As a respected speaker in the legal field, Mr. Holman has been invited to speak on numerous topics, including human resources issues, the Missouri Human Rights Act, and the plaintiff's perspective on business practices. Mr. Holman is recognized as one of the “Top 100 Attorneys” in Missouri and Kansas by Super Lawyers, a member of Kansas City’s “Top 50 Super Lawyers,” and has been named a Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyer every year since 2011. He has also been honored as “Best of the Bar” for employment litigation by the Kansas City Business Journal. Mr. Holman is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers for the State of Missouri, an organization comprising the top 100 trial lawyers from each state. Membership is by special invitation and is awarded only to lawyers who demonstrate superior qualifications, leadership, reputation, influence, stature, and profile as trial attorneys in both civil plaintiff and criminal defense cases.

He holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a significant achievement reflecting that his peers and the judiciary rank him at the highest level of professional excellence. As lead counsel, he has secured two verdicts exceeding $10,000,000, an additional verdict exceeding $5,000,000, and four other verdicts exceeding $1,000,000. Alongside these seven- and eight-figure verdicts, he has also achieved thirteen verdicts exceeding $125,000 as lead counsel.

Mr. Holman has been a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association and the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association since 2000.
