Khuan Wai Chong

Wai Chong Khuan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Malaya in 2008 and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2009. He was formerly an associate in the litigation division of a leading law firm before joining Messrs Low & Partners as a partner in 2017.

Passionate about civil litigation, Wai primarily handles banking and insolvency matters, corporate litigation, debt recovery, employment disputes, commercial litigation, estate administration, land disputes, and tort claims. He is active both in and out of court. He also has extensive experience in commercial and corporate conveyancing and currently acts as legal counsel for a Chinese school concerning its relocation.

• Acted as counsel or co-counsel for public listed companies and private limited companies in court for matters including:
  • Debt restructuring schemes involving amounts up to RM 28 million;
  • Capital reduction of up to RM 71 million;
  • Permanent suspension of members' voluntary liquidation;
  • Rectification of corporate documents filed with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM).
• Advised public listed companies and multinational corporations on:
  • Listing exercises on the main market involving public issuance of ordinary shares worth up to RM 30 million, including legal due diligence audits;
  • Sale of business and share acquisition of a private limited company valued at RM 34 million;
  • Land-sharing and participation schemes for a memorial park;
  • Members’ voluntary liquidation;
  • Hire-purchase financing under the Malaysian Hire-Purchase Act;
  • Voluntary Separation and Retrenchment Plans;
  • Franchise law matters.
• Managed and/or assisted in various disputes, including tort claims, debt recovery, tenancy disputes, and intellectual property infringements.
