Jess Hoeme focuses his practice on criminal defense, representing individuals and organizations in criminal investigations and prosecutions in municipal, state, and federal courts across Kansas. His cases range from domestic violence, DUI, and murder to white-collar crimes. Simultaneously, he maintains a distinguished practice representing Kansas law enforcement officers and agencies in investigations and professional matters.Jess defends individuals throughout the entire state of Kansas. And we mean the entire state. He has represented clients in 85 of Kansas’s 105 counties and is determined to appear in every single one of them.Jess thrives on challenges and never backs down from a fight. Over his legal career, Jess has built a reputation as a tenacious advocate whose persistence gets results. However, despite his professional grit, his clients and colleagues will tell you that he is one of the kindest people you will ever meet.Jess has extensive experience, including five years as a prosecutor, four of which he served as Mitchell County Attorney, followed by a tenure as Chief Narcotics Prosecutor for the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office. During his prosecutorial career, Jess was an instructor for the Kansas Narcotics Officers’ Association’s Top Gun school and the Kansas County & District Attorneys Association. He taught trial advocacy techniques at the National Advocacy Center and presented lectures on “Managing Complex Drug Cases” as an instructor for the National District Attorneys Association. Jess has leveraged the knowledge gained from this experience to benefit criminal defendants since JHC convinced him to leave government service in 2011.
