She has appeared before judges in criminal courts in both Nova Scotia and Ontario, handling all types of criminal cases, including guilty pleas, sentencing hearings, bail hearings, and trials. Megan has always been a staunch advocate for civil liberties and marginalized individuals within the criminal justice system. Throughout her university studies, she volunteered as a mentor for family and child services, participated in a volunteer outreach program in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and successfully campaigned to end the sale of bottled water on the University of Guelph campus. During her law studies, she was a member of the Social Activist Law Students' Association and served on the board of the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her article on the lack of access to reproductive healthcare for incarcerated women was published in the Manitoba Law Journal in 2023.
