Master Lawyer Remco BERNAERDTS

Remco Bernaerdts is part of the Corporate & Finance practice group and the Africa Desk of the firm.Remco assists the firm’s public and private clients with multi-jurisdictional and cross-border transactions and projects in Central Africa, notably in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. He focuses on all aspects of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures, with also a strong experience (and keen interest) in regulatory law. He has developed particular expertise in the mining, energy, telecommunications sectors, and the investment funds industry.Remco also advises on Belgian and European telecommunications law.Remco holds a law degree from KU Leuven and an LL.M. from the University of Virginia. He also obtained a special diploma in OHADA law from the University Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas and the University Paris 13.Remco is an assistant at the Institute of Comparative Law at KU Leuven. He also teaches courses on the mining sector and legislation in the DRC to geologists and engineers enrolled in the Master’s program in Geo-resources Engineering at the University of Liège.Before joining Liedekerke, Remco worked for nearly three years at an American law firm where he was active in the fields of antitrust, state aid, and FDI. He joined Liedekerke in 2022. Since January 2024, Remco has been based at Liedekerke’s Kinshasa office (Liedekerke DRC SASU).
