Overview
Guido De Wit, a partner at Linklaters' Brussels office since 1991, joined the Luxembourg tax practice group in 2013 while continuing to serve Belgian clients from the Brussels office.

Professional Experience
Guido has worked in the field of VAT for 40 years and has acquired extensive experience and expertise in this area. He is recognized as one of the leading VAT lawyers in Belgium and has significant experience in all aspects of indirect taxation related to real estate transactions.

From 1997 to 2022, Guido taught the VAT course to LLM students in tax law at ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles). More broadly, he frequently lectures on VAT issues and has published numerous works on various VAT topics.

In recent years, Guido has undertaken several missions for the IMF and the World Bank to advise countries such as Saudi Arabia, Suriname, Latvia, Barbados, and Seychelles on introducing or reforming VAT legislation.

Education
Guido holds a law degree from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven – KUL (Belgium), an LL.M. from Harvard University, Cambridge (USA), and a postgraduate diploma in tax law from the École Supérieure des Sciences Fiscales – ICHEC (Belgium).

Publications
Guido has authored numerous works on various VAT-related topics and leads the European VAT Centre, composed of VAT specialists from Linklaters across Europe.
