Ignace specializes in the fields of patents, patent litigation, trademarks, copyrights, designs and models, trade secret protection, technology transfer, and specific regulations applicable to pharmaceutical products. He is the author of various publications in his areas of expertise and frequently speaks at seminars and conferences.
Ignace is the president of the Dutch-speaking section of the Belgian Patent Attorneys' Qualification Commission, appointed by the Minister of Economic Affairs. He is also an arbitrator and mediator for the World Intellectual Property Organization and a member of the jury for the Czech Arbitration Court. Additionally, Ignace is a founding member and chairman of the editorial board of the journal Intellectuele Rechten – Droits Intellectuels published by Wolters Kluwer. He is a board member of the Dutch Foundation for the Training of Trademark and Design Professionals in the Benelux (BBMM) and the chairman of the disciplinary board of the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM). He is also a member of Cepani, the International Trademark Association, the Belgian Copyright Law Association, the International Literary and Artistic Association, the International Association for Consumer Law, the Licensing Executives Society, and the European Patent Lawyers Association.
Ignace holds a law degree from the University of Ghent and a master's degree in economic law from the Free University of Brussels. He is a professor for the introduction to law course at the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences and the coordinator of the professional training program at the Benelux Association for Trademarks and Designs.
Ignace joined the Brussels office of Stibbe in 2007.
