Ms. Nakishma Rogers wrote a poem at age 10 declaring her life’s dream of one day becoming an acclaimed attorney like “Johnnie Cochran”. Her uncle jokingly calls her Johnnie Cochran to this day. She tried to maintain a path of excellence in all of her accomplishments. She was the youngest member of the All- Ah-Wee Young Theatre players, Member of Trendsetters dance group, Vice President of the Literary and Debating Society, a Debater and Captain of the Winning Team securing multiple titles for Best Speaker in the process, She was the Host of a Tv show called Youth Expressions and hosted her own Radio show dubbed the Nakishma Rogers Show.

In High school she started her journey in law very early doing internships and clerical/ support work at Lake & Kentish and Associates as well as the Attorney- General’s Chambers. She graduated High school with awards for Best in the Island in History, Literature, Home Management and Principles of Business. Upon exiting sixth form and being the recipient of the 2006 “Island Scholar” scholarship, Ms. Rogers enrolled in the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus to pursue a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.  She graduated with Honours and opted to attend the Norman Manley Law School to complete the Legal Education Certificate (L.E.C.) which she successfully completed in 2011.

Ms. Rogers was called to the Anguilla Bar on 13th October 2011 and joined the law firm of J.A.G Gumbs & Co as an Associate Attorney. She also spent three (3) years at Astaphan’s Chambers and left for an opportunity within the Attorney- General’s Chambers. Ms. Rogers spent six (6) years at the Attorney- General’s Chambers where her main duty was Prosecuting. Ms. Rogers also practiced in the Civil division and did a lot of advisory work.
