HAAKMA Crystal

Crystal Haakma is an associate attorney at our firm’s office in Des Moines, IA. She can assist clients throughout Polk County and the surrounding areas.

Crystal attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, earning her Juris Doctor in May 2022. During law school, she received two Advanced Achievement Awards for her academic excellence in Child Law and International Human Rights. Before studying law, Crystal earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Business from Full Sail University, where she also received Course Director Awards in Business Law and International Business, along with an Advanced Achievement Award. She also holds an Associate Degree in History from the College of Southern Idaho. Crystal is licensed and ready to assist clients in the state of Iowa.

Before joining Stange Law Firm, specializing in family law and divorce in Des Moines, Iowa, Crystal recently worked as an associate attorney at a law firm in Des Moines, focusing primarily on civil liability and insurance defense. She represented insurance companies, risk management pools, self-insured businesses, and other local entities in state and federal courts. After completing her law studies, Crystal worked as an associate attorney at a personal injury law firm in West Des Moines. She also spent a semester of her law studies working as a student attorney for the Drake Children’s Rights Legal Clinic.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and caring for her many pets, including two chinchillas, two golden retrievers, and a cat. She is also an avid reader and enjoys playing good board games.
